Apparition: The appearance of a person, animal or object too far to be seen, felt or heard by the normal senses. Only a small number of apparitions are visual; most apparition experiences feature noises, unusual smells, extreme cold or heat and the displacement of objects. Apport: Apports can be defined as the ‘arrival of various objects through an apparent penetration of matter’.Apports are objects that mediums claim to be able to produce from thin air or transport through solid matter. Circle: A symbol of, completion and protection, the circle is believed to represent a sphere of personal power or psychic energy. It is often used in séances, where participants hold hands around a circular table.D......
Discarnate entity/Disembodied spirit: Terms used to describe a spirit, ghost, or other non-physical or non-material entity contacted during a séance or other sitting by a medium .Discarnate entities once had an earthly body. This is in contrast to other entities, which have just existed in other spiritual realms. They are called ‘disembodied spirits’.E......
Ectoplasm: From the Greek words ektos and plasma and meaning ‘exteriorized substance, ectoplasm is a whitish substance that allegedly extrudes from the mouth, nose and ears or even other orifices of the medium during a séance.Electronic voice phenomena EVP: Communication from a voice recorded on a digital recorder from which there is no know source.EVP researchers believe these voices to be of those passed into spirit, sceptics believe they are simply voices being picked up by radio or television waves. Entity: As in Discarnate. Evocation: From the Latin for ‘calling forth’ an evocation is the summoning in magic or ritual of a spirit into a manifestation that is external to the medium or magician.F......

Ghost: Popular term for supposed apparition of the dead. Ghosts are often depicted as human form and fog-like, misty, silvery or transparent. They can be visible but they can also make their presence felt with audables, smells, cold air and the manipulation of electricity. Read more about Ghosts...Ghost Lights: A glowing ball or balls of lights that defy natural explanation the lights can sparkle, be stationary or in motion, high in the air or low to the ground. Sometimes their behaviour is bizarre for example vanishing or showing evasive action when someone gets too close to them. Not to be confused with orbs.
